MARGAO: The people duped by Kamaxi Forex Pvt Ltd gathered at the Margao police station on Monday after police allegedly refused to register their complaints against the company.
Over 300 people have filed individual complaints against Kamaxi Forex. After a lot of pressure, the Margao police registered FIRs against the accused. The victims have also demanded the immediate arrest of the accused.
"We have been demanding individual FIRs against the owner of the company and we will keep pushing for individual complaints as innocent people have been duped for a lot of money," said Adv Sapnil Dessai.
"There are complaints of over 300 people and that itself shows the urgency and importance of the issue. This also calls for the police to act swiftly and arrest the culprit and get the matter sorted," said Cruz Cardozo.
Meanwhile, the police accepted some complaints on Friday, but refused to register others. After several people went to the Margao police station and demanded the registration of their complaints, Margao police acceded to them. Nearly 70 complaints were filed on Monday.
The DySP has assured to forward their complaints to the EOC. Over 100 have been duped of over Rs 40 crore by Kamaxi Forex,Margao. People realised that they had been duped when they approached the company office only to find it closed.
According to investors, the proprietor Nilesh Raikar had offered seamen and their families a chance to invest their forex in his company and promised three times the interest on their money.
